Just as a light bulb went off in my head and a single title materialized in my mind, Haruto’s smartphone vibrated.

As soon as he looked down at the screen, he stood up and started speaking with someone.

“I saw your message on LINE. How’s Wakasako?”

Something must have happened to him!

Haruto’s voice faltered, his expression turning stern. Urging me to follow with a flick of his head, he walked off as he continued his phone call.

My heart rate rose, and sweat oozed from my palms. As I was about to return Princess Yonaga to my backpack and follow behind Haruto, she called to me.

“Take me with you, too.”

“But—”

But you might resonate with the book again.

“If you leave me behind, I’ll never let you read me again.”

I frantically tucked Princess Yonaga into my pocket and chased after Haruto.

As we descended in the elevator, Haruto grimly relayed to me the contents of his phone call.

“Sounds like Wakasako had another fight with the upperclassmen. They say he fled from the room shouting in a strange voice.”

The same upperclassmen who had been trying to copy assignments earlier were trying to push their own duties in the orchestra club off onto the first-years.

Wakasako had overheard their exchange and had suddenly snapped at them again.
